Subject: Repair and replacement of Rock Retaining Walls
Where: Chapel Lane Village Tennis Court and Basketball Court
On Thursday May 22, 2009 Shareholders of Chapel Lane Village Homes Association, Inc. met to discuss business at hand. At this meeting, the deteriorating condition of the rock retaining walls of the tennis court and basketball court were discussed.
As a result, bids are being requested to repair one or both of these walls. Alternative solutions are also being sought.
Description: Tennis Court rock wall – Located at the corner of Kirkwood Drive and Chapel Lane. The rock wall extends the full length on the east side and is approximately 206 feet from end to end with 126 feet in the front courts and 80 feet behind the cinder block wall to the south. The wall starts at ground level on the north and rises to more than 5 feet high at the gate. The wall is approximately 6 feet high for its full course within the southern enclosed area. Higher sections of the wall in past years have been mortared but virtually none of the mortared sections are seen as salvageable.
Description: Basketball Court rock wall – The basketball Court is surrounded by housing on all sides and will be difficult to get equipment in and out. The court is connected by easements in four directions. The rock wall is 2 feet high at the northeast corner and heads south for 71 feet where it reaches 5’6” in height. There, the wall dog-legs to the south west for another 44 feet descending to 1”6” in height. Total length of the rock wall is 115 feet.
The association is looking for qualified persons to replace one or both of these walls. Alternatives that are presented will be considered and may be used.
